DESCRIPTION

At the University of Roma, Torre Vergata, WAKEMAKE was realized, an auto-construction workshop that aims to produce pieces of furniture for outdoors entirelly realized with re-cycled materials from Calatrava’s “Città dello Sport” a project where construction has stopped since 5 years. The initiative developed from a group of students of the degree in Architecture and Civil engineering (Sonia Luisi, Filippo Lorenzi, Federico Giunta e Iacopo Carinci) winners of the tender bid for students activities has seen the participation of 24 students, overseen from ARCò – architecture and cooperation of Milan, which have designed and built pieces of furniture. The objective of the workshop is the one of transforming an abandoned are of the university in a livable location devoted to sharing. Realizing it in auto-construction with re-cycled materials was the tool to highlight a certain way of doing architecture, sustainable and cooperative.
